Music music music....
I have always been an admirer of music. I have collected / bought / listened to various styles and genres of all music (except country & western) for over 40 years now. Rock music is and propably will be my all time favourite followed by the early rythm n blus / blues / progressive styles but not necessarily in that order. It has only been recently that i have found myself actually singing along to ...dare I say it...pop music tunes. AAAArrrrrgggghhh! Is it my age? Is there a cure? Doctor Doctor please! Tell me I will get over this bad spell in my life. I need my eclectic taste in music back. And now. There must be something there that some sort of therapist can help me with. Pop music. It's like...Garlic bread!!.....
Away from all that. this afternoon i have two missions impossible. first of all. My modelling career is about to take off...or not. Yes folks. I amm going to be a model and i will be modelling no less than clothes from...wait for it...Tesco's. Great innit. this is all to do with the church that my wife belogs to / attends / goes to whatever. The church that I go to once a year just to catch the sweeties that the rector throughs out to the kids, you know the day, yes, Christmas. Well, there is going to be a fashion show and my wife asked me if I would like to be a model. Of course I immediately said yes thinking that I was going to be with other models of the female persuasion. But no. It was going to just people like me from the church. Ah well. Maybe there will be a scoutther looking for the more mature type model and I will get signed up. Look out Mode Magazine.
The other mission impossible is for me to bake a cake all on my own for the very first time ever in my entire life. This cake has to be not only good. It has to be perfect. It is going up against 5 other cakes in the Nursery tomorrow morning. There will be cakes represented from Germany / France / East Belfast / Ballycastle and then my own. This was the result of a blind challenge put to me on Friday. Me being the sort of numpty that I am I had to accept or face ridicule and banter and all the other shit that would come in my direction if I didn't take up the challenge. So, i accepted without knowing what it was and then after we had all agreed to take part we were then told what we had to do. i tried to get out of it and just accept the banter but there was no going back. so, this afternoon i am going to try, sucessfully, to bake a cake for the very first time in my life. Help me, help me Doctor....pleeease.
Speak soon (mabe with cake on my face)

The story of Easter
This man died and then he didn't. As a result everybody gets Easter eggs made of chocolate. Sweet, sickenly, lovely chocolate. My Easter egg this year was in the shape opf a cow. I didn't know that cows were connected in any way with eggs but who cares. It was / is delicious. Now that I have eaten it all I don't think that I will have any dinner. In fact. I don't think i will eat any more chocolate EVER again. (That sounds familiar, I WON'T ever drink more vodka / eat chocolate ....) I think you get the picture.
Now that I have stuffed my bake I have to do the usual thing that i do / am told to do at Easter time. Yes folks. Get that feckin' lawnmower out and give the lawns their first haicuts of the year. The front lawn is not so bad as i think it was laid with a very slow growing seed but the back lawns are the worst. Not only do they grow very fast and thick but the dogs use it as their winter toilet. Yes folks, that's nearly four months of turds to lift....... Sorry there. I had to run to the bog for a bit of a purge just thinking about that. Ah. but. I have a secret weapon Yes. I put on SUPERBOOTS. These boots are steel toed all weather thick soled hand stitched knee length jobbies. As I glide along with the mower without the grassbox on Everything just gets cut down to a reasonable height. Anything that gets in the way is just flung out of the way. I think you also get the picture of what is happening here. After that cut then as long as the turds are lifted on a daily basis the grass can be cut a lot more easily. I can even get my son to do it for me.
After that, yes there is more, I have to weed the flower beds. This is the job I really hate. Its not the puilling of the weeds that bothers me but more the unexpected cat turd that you come across. Bastards. I hate cats. I loathe cats. They should all be kept indoors by their irresponsable owners. stuff the regulations saying that they are wild animals and are allowed to roam freely.
Now that these jobs are done I can really enjoy my time off from work. Whats left of it. The kids get two weeks off from school for Easter. Why can't the adults as well? From work that is. Anyway, all this work has made me rather thirsty. I think that there might just be a drink or six waiting for me in the fridge. You know the kind. No, not a girlie drink, I mean a MAN'S drink
Speak later, Hic.

Waahaaaaayyy!!!!
Waahaaaayyyy indeed. I got them. I got two tickets to go and see The Rolling Stones at the O2 Arena in August. I have my hospitality sorted out. I have my flights nearly sorted out. I have my itinery nearly sorted out (Stones Convention / Sticky Fingers Restaurant / Brian Jones tour of residencies in London etc etc) Am I sad or what? Who cares. I'm happy. Very happy indeed. To cap it all the next day it was my bit]rthday. So call it an early birthday present to me from me. No matter what happened that day in work, nobody was going to ruin my day ( except for the woman that came into the Nursery to buy some trees AFTER I had told her not to come in as we were now closed for the season. She turned out to be a real HEADBUTTING case. You know the type. Oh, do you have one of those and do you have 2 of those or 6 of those. No, I think I'll take 4 of those instead of 6 of those etc etc. These are the sort of customers that will not take no for an answer. What is one expected to do? We operate a commercial Nursery here but we do sell in small quantities to anybody who wants the trees. But, only when we are open for the season, not after we are closed for fecks sake. Anyway, coming back to the start of the story. It was a day that I felt GRRRREEEEAAAT!!!! (except for yer woman)
I looked up on the net to see exactly where I would be sitting. I have seats just in front of the extending stage. Even more great. I haven't as yet decided who is coming with me. My wife isn't sure whether she wants to come again to see the Greatest Rock n roll Band in the world. So, who to take. Do I take my son / daughter / dog / friend ...... Or, do I exchange my spare ticket with a tout and go twice seeing as they are now playing 2 shows instead of the one that was originally programmed. We will just have to wait and see. I am looking forward to it anyway. Certainly this year looks as though I will be travelling about a bit. London in April / May for a boys long weekend followed by somewhere in Europe with my wife for a holiday followed by another trip to London for the Stones and then my trip to Toronto to meet up with some friends and have a general good time. Then, maybe a short weekend trip to germany for the Christmas markets. This is definitely a good year for getting around. I am going to have to plant more trees to cover my carbon footprint.
You may have read in one of my earlier ramblings about me buying my complete winters book reading at a car boot sale. well, they are all read and have been thoroughly enjoyed. This is just a wee story with a moral for you. I was in a bookshop that is well known for selling reduced price title. I picked up a recently published book from a shelf as it was a biography about someone that I want't to read about. Cost ..... £2.95 (in hardback as well) The next week I was in my home town and had occasion to go into a shop that I am not very keen on (something to do with the dog in their logo) and saw the exact same book.......£16.99. The moral of this story is ...shop around and stay out of HMV oooops I didn't mean to give the name out, but there you are, it's out now.
Another story in my recent life. my wife and I went out on the Friday night past to a play. It was put on by one of the local AM DRAM clubs. The play was really brilliant. The actors / actresses wer really brilliant. My daughter was excellent. What can a father say. Not a lot. I was so proud to see her up there on the stage. Ther was a part of the play where she had to kiss her partner in the play. I watched very closely at that point just in case he tried anything he shouldn't be. What can a father do. that was nothing . She also had a part in the play where she had to come on wearing a bright yellow swimsuit. She was / is a stunner, even if I say so myself. If you are reading this daughter dear, you now know how I felt. Not just me though, everybody around us commented on how Beautiful you are. I felt very proud indeed.
I will go now and dream about my concert tickets arriving TTFN
