Don’t Panic. Don’t Panic
Don’t panic. Don’t panic. Everything is going to be all right. Take a deep breath and slowly let it out. Now. Is that better? Of course it’s not any feckin’ better. My computer has just crashed and I can’t get into anything to fix it. The PC is working OK but it’s my laptop that has crashed. My laptop with all my files and folders and things on it. Aw don’t worry McDuff. You can always access your stuff through the PC can’t you. NO, I CAN’T. Why not? Because I’ve forgotten all my ID’s and passwords is why. It’s been so long since I have had to use a PC I’ve forgotten how. What do I do now? Ah! My friend the geek is coming round tonight. He’ll be able to fix it for me. (I hope)

Just to let you all know, my friend fixed it for me hence me doing this blog now. Imagine, if he hadn’t been able to fix it for me there would be no more McDuff’s blog. How would you all manage without it?

Not much else to report really. Apart from a little incident that happened to me earlier. My wife and I went out this morning to do a few messages. No problem there. We went for a coffee to one of those well known coffee shops. One of those that have become so very popular over the years. A bit like Friends really. Settees and soft chairs to sit at with nice coffee’s to drink. You know the place, don’t you? Well anyway, went in and ordered and sat down. So far so good. Then, out of the blue, WHAM, it hits me. Everything is spinning. There are two of everything. I feel as though I might fall off the settee. Yep. My vertigo is back. Really bad. After we finish our coffee we get up to go, only this time my wife is holding me up. I am staggering all overe the feckin’ place. I am sure there were a few gazes in our direction as we left. Maybe even a few tut tut’s. After all, I looked as though I had just downed a dozen pints of best ale. We got outside and my wife set me against the corner of a building while she went and got the car. I was holding on for dear life by this time. We got home and I managed, just, to get out of the car and into the house. What happens next beggars belief. I walk into the lounge and fall right over, fortunately onto the settee. I had no say in the matter whatsoever. Just think, if this had happened out in the street I might have got some help. Because it happened at home what do I get? My wife laughing at me. Not only that, when my daughter gets home from work the story is related to her. She explodes into laughter as well. I went up to bed and lay down in a darkened room for a few hours. It helped me but to think that my family think this is funny. Hhmmmmph!

I am now feeling much better thanks for asking. Any comments or suggestions to this gack just click on the title bar above and follow the instructions. CSI Miami is coming on. That’s more important than thinking of things to write here

Wahay! They’re Back (maybe)
Yes folks. The good news is that they may be back in action again. At least that is if everything goes to plan. Who am I talking about? I hear you all ask. Who else, but The Rolling Stones.

Ronnie has apparently kicked the dolly bird to touch. Charlie has confirmed that he has NOT left the band. Repeat, NOT left the band as was reported online somewhere in Australia a wee while ago. Keith has been working with Jack White on some new material. He also plans to get the whole Band together next year sometime and kick ass to get them into the recording studio for a new, repeat, NEW album with all new material. Great innit!

This means that after 2 or 3 years recording and releasing the new album they will then go on another World tour. No doubt that will start in North America somewhere and last for at least 18 months, then to Asia and Australasia. Then onto Europe. Soooo, that means by my reckoning I will get to see them round about, ohhhh, 2015AD / 2016AD. Will I still be alive I wonder? Will they be alive even? Who knows. But it’s something to look forward to anyway.

In between now and then though there is a new 40 year anniversary 4 CD box set (well, 3 CD & 1 DVD) coming out on the 3rd November. Can anyone tell me what album it is? Here’s a clue. It was released 40 years ago. First correct answer (without googling) can buy it for me as an early Xmas prezzie.

Onto other things. Our daughter came home from work earlier. She has a sore throat and she is not feeling the best. After dinner she went up to her bedroom. I jokingly said to her to text me if there was anything she needed or wanted. A couple of hours later the doorbell goes. Its her boyfriend. He has brought her some sweets. She had texted him or phoned him and asked him to bring her some sweets down. He lives about 40 miles away. I am just downstairs. Is this her way of telling me that she is no longer a Daddies Girl anymore? I am devastated. Am I losing her to another man or what?

Tomorrow is another day though. Our son is coming round for a visit. Maybe even some dinner. We only saw him on Sunday past there and he was looking well (eating well as well) It’s good that he comes tomorrow. He can put the bins out for me (they have to pulled uphill. Try that when they are full) I can bring them in OK as they are going downhill, easy peasy. He also gets paid tomorrow. He can pay me back what he owes me. I will have some cash in my wallet again for a while, until someone else wants a loan that is. But it’s nice to have money in ones wallet just for a wee while.

With the change in the weather recently the evenings are getting colder and colder. The other night I lit the fire for the first time this season. I am only burning logs at the moment but it sure does make a big difference. I think it’s too early for a real coal fire though. I had the sweep round the other week and he told me that I have 3 flues that are not in use. They are sealed up so I need to get them capped as well. How much? It stops damp forming when it is raining. How much? If I ever want my Upvc windows cleaned he does them during the Summer months when he is not being a sweep. How much? He also cleans Upvc facias as well. How much? It all costs money. Money that I don’t have but maybe someday will have as I can see the sense in maintenance of the building we call our home as an important issue.

CSI Miami is coming on so I must finish off here. I have to get my Horatio fix for the week otherwise I get a wee tad moody. New visitors are always welcome to say what they think about the ramblings on this page. Don’t worry about what you say, I have complete editorial control. If your posting stays up it means I like you.

Just click on the title above and follow the simple instructions. I love to hear from you all, especially first thing in the morning

Make Hay While The Sun Shines
Or, cut hedges while you can

Ok. The story is. Some years ago we got new neighbours. OK people in their own way. That particular year when the hedges were being cut they asked if I could leave their half of the hedge a wee tad taller, for privacy more that anything else. So I said ‘Yeah, sure thing’

The next time I was cutting the hedges I just trimmed the top of their half to the taller height. (I did this as a good neighbourly gesture. Nice neighbour that I am and all that) That was six years ago. I didn’t cut their side again for one reason or another. Then again, neither did they. Today, and yesterday, I have been busy cutting the hedges before Winter sets in, while the weather is good and sunny and warm and dry and fresh and nice. My neighbour on one side is great. He doesn’t mind me cutting the hedge. He is quite elderly and as the years have passed he is getting on a wee tad. Like me he is finding it more and more difficult to do things. I trimmed that side of the garden the other day. No problem as long as I took my time doing it.

Today, I started to CUT, not trim the other side. Now my half of the hedge is still the original six footer that I have managed all along. Over the years my neighbour on that side has just let his half grow, and grow, and grow. Result. My garden is starved of light / wind / sunshine etc. as a result the bottom part of my garden has become a swamp because of the lack of aforesaid wind and sunshine to help dry it out. Upon closer inspection of the hedge I find out that the hedge is actually on my side of the property. This means only one thing. I own the hedge. I can cut it down to whatever height I want. So I did. Or at least part of it. I managed to get half the length of the hedge done today. To give you an idea as to how high it had grown next door. I was cutting seven feet off the top just to bring it level with my side. Seven feet. Can you imagine the height it was. Six plus seven is thirteen feet high. Thirteen bloody feet. No wonder my garden is like a swamp. While we are experiencing this wonderful spell of glorious weather I intend to get the whole length of hedge cut to size. Maybe tomorrow I will see the effect of my effort . A dry garden.

Another good thing about the good weather is we can use the rest of the garden as it should be used. We are able to eat al fresco from morning to night. (just think, I was going to put the garden furniture away into storage this time last week due to the lousy Summer we had been having) Maybe do it next week. Another good thing about the good weather. It gets me out of the house doing things that I really enjoy. As long as I take my time and rest every fifteen minutes or so I can work away. Once I get all the hedges cut and trimmed it means I can then put the garden to rest for the oncoming Winter. (I know it is only the start of Autumn but I like to plan ahead )

Earlier on this year you may or may not have read my blog about the passing of my Father. I now have word that Probate has been completed and we are just awaiting word from the banks. I will either get 25% of nothing or 25% of something. I will have to wait a wee tad longer to find out. All the work is being done in Toronto (that’s where he lived) and I have no idea what is going on. Wait and see. Wait and see.

I am sitting doing this and I see that there is a film premier about to start. It sounds good so I am going to leave it at that.

Comments as usual to the above title. Strangers always welcome. Especially those from the other side!
